UW-Platteville reached a milestone volleyball victory--and exacted a little revenge, too.
The Pioneers beat Coe 30-22, 30-32, 30-22, 32-30 Friday to reach 20 wins for the 15th time in Coach Deb Schulman's 20 years. The sweep avenged a 3-2 loss to the Kohawks in the home opener Sept. 7.
Playing on Senior Night and in front of a boisterous Williams Fieldhouse crowd that included the pep band, the Pioneers rolled early against the Kohawks, going ahead 25-14 before winning 30-22. The Kohawks overcame a 29-26 deficit to win the second game, but the Pioneers rebounded to win the next two.
The Pioneers are now 20-7 overall, while the Kohawks fell to 13-9.
Rachel Chapman slammed 18 kills and had 25 digs, while Lisa Bell had 16 kills, Melissa Hillebrand 15 and Stephanie Tronnes 10. Senior Kelly Laschinger made 50 assists while classmate Lynn Schreiner had four blocks in her first career start.
