Three UW-Platteville volleyball players earned all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors.

Setter Kelly Laschinger earned first team honors, while hitters Lisa Bell and Rachel Chapman were honorable mention selections. The trio led the Pioneers to a 24-12 record, a spot in the WIAC championship match and a berth into the NCAA III national championships.

The Pioneers are in an eight-team NCAA III regional at Carthage College and face UW-Oshkosh Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Laschinger, a senior from Verona, earned her second straight all-WIAC selection after being an honorable mention choice in 2006. She became the UWP career leader assist with 4,948 and has three of the top four season totals in Pioneer history. Laschinger had 16 matches of at least 50 assists in 2007, including four with more than 60. The Pioneers are 79-31 in her three years as the starting setter.

Bell, a sophomore from Dyersville, Iowa (Beckman High School) surpassed 200 career blocks during last weekend's WIAC playoffs. She led the front-line players with a .231 hitting percentage and had a career-high 21 kills vs. UW-La Crosse. The Pioneers are 17-7 when Bell has 10 or more kills this year. UWP volleyball

Chapman, a junior from Endeavor (Portage High School), had 25 matches with at least 10 kills, including four over 20. She made a career-best 22 kills in four-game match with Lake Forest.A strong defensive player, she has had at least 10 digs in the last 10 matches. Chapman is the eighth player in Pioneer history to record 1,000 career kills and last week surpassed 1,000 career digs during the WIAC tournament.

Thursday's playoff match will be available to Platteville fans on WPVL, 107.1 FM.
