UW-Platteville had success at the NCAA DIvision I Western Illinois Invitational Saturday.
The Pioneeer men were third of six teams, while the women were fifth out of 10 squads.
UWP had two first-place finishes: Marcia Taddy in a school-record 4:33.14 in the 1,500-meter run and Russell Goessel in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:38.58.
Jackie Mulrooney was second in the 5,000 (17:32.79), while Tim Jankowski was runner-up in the pole vault at 15-1.
The UWP men were dominant in the 1,500, taking second through fourth. Alum Nick Meis won the event, followed by Kyle Stangel in 3:59.85, Cameron Klein at 4:00, and John Lueck in 4:12.78.
Brian Steingraber was third in the shot put and fourth in the discus, while Josh Pluemer (200) and Jim Uppena (hammer throw) were also fourth.
