
The UW-Platteville women recorded the most points in school history at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track and field championships Friday and Saturday at UW-La Crosse.
The UWP women, behind co-athlete of the meet Marcia Taddy, scored 77 points to place sixth in the meet. The Pioneer men, who captured two events, placed fifth with 58.5 points. The host Eagles won both championships.
Taddy (pictured above) won the 800-meter run in 2:12.71, the 1,500-meter run in 4:33.69 and anchored the winning 4x800 relay team. Anissa Szesterniak, Stephanie Martin, Lindsey Vick and Taddy won the race in 9:25.64.
Jackie Mulrooney completed a demanding sweep of the distance races, winning the 10,000-meter run Friday in 38:19.11 and the 5,000-meter run Saturday in 17:32.49. She nipped UW-La Crosse's Julia Rudd by .18 in a rare near photo-finish in the 5,000.
Mary Johnson added an all-conference honor in the 100 dash, placing second in 12:57.
On the men's side, Tyler Sigl added to his impressive freshman season by winning the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.29. The men's 4x800 team of Cameron Klein, Erik Bartelson, Taylor Reynolds and Kyle Stangel won the race in 7:48.76.
