The UW-Platteville track and field men took second place among eight teams at the competitive UW-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday, while the Pioneer women had a strong showing as well, placing third out of seven schools.
The host Titans won both team titles. UW-Oshkosh had 222 points in the men's meet, while UWP was runner-up with 152.5. UW-Stevens Point was third with 131.5. In the women's team totals, the Titans scored 237, the Pointers 160.5 and the Pioneers 99.
The Pioneer men won just two events but placed second with its depth. Tim Jankowski won the pole vault in 15-4.25, while the Distance Medlay Relay team won in 10:28.66.
Carrie Morschauser won two events to lead the women. She won the high jump at 5-5, just one inch shy of the school record, and the long jump in 16-3 1/4.
Tracy Wilber won the 55-meter dash in 7.57, edging her current Pioneer and former Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau teammate Mary Johnson by one-hundredth of a second.
The Distance Medley Relay team won its race in 13:10.33.
