Kleimeinhagen wins 3rd weekly honor

UW-Platteville's Ryan Kleimenhagen closed his regular season career with his third Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track athlete of the week award this spring.

Kleimenhagen placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run at the prestigious USA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday in Boston. He finished his race, televised nationally on tape-delayed basis on ESPN Sunday, in a school-record 3:46.55.

He and the Pioneers will compete in the 2005 WIAC Championships Friday and Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.

Kleimenhagen is one of three Pioneers to have the top qualifying mark in the conference. He currently has the best 800 (1:52.38) and mile (4:04.66) times. Both those marks lead the nation as well.

Marcia Taddy leads the WIAC women's competition in both those events, with a 2:14.09 in the 800 and 4:53.36 in the mile. Jackie Mulrooney leads the 3,000 run in 10:03.36 and the 5,000 in 17:16.00.

Tyler Sigl is ranked second in the 5,000 and third in the mile run, while Carrie Morschauser is third in the women's high jump. The men's distance medley relay team and the women's 4x200 relay squad bring in the third-best times to the conference meets.
