UW-Platteville won five events, including keeping its strangleholds on the 1,500-meter runs and the women's 4x800 relay, at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships Friday and Saturday at UW-Eau Claire.

Marcia Taddy won two individual events and anchored the record-setting relay team, while Tyler Sigl won two events.

The 4x800 relay team won for the fourth straight year and did so in a conference-record 9:06.06. The Pioneer quartet of Lindsey Vick, Emma Dreis, Jessica Scott and Marcia Taddy won by more than 15 seconds over second-place finisher UW-Oshkosh. Seniors Vick and Taddy have been part of all four Pioneer championship teams, while juniors Dreis and Scott have been on the last three.

Taddy, a 15-time NCAA III All-American, won the 800-meter run in 2:12.86 and the 1,500 meters in 4:38.25, cruising to both titles in NCAA III provisional qualifying times. Taddy has never lost a 1,500 race in her outdoor conference career, winning four titles.

Sigl added two more titles to his impressive resume as well. The 11-time all-American won the 1,500 in 3:56.41 and the 5,000 in 14:49.73. Sigl has won the outdoor 1,500 all four years of his career and successfully defended his 5,000 title.

Also earning second-team all-conference honors were Matt Bischoff in the 200-meter dash, setting a new school record in 21.93; Ben Zizis in the 110-hurdles in 15.00 and Scott in the 5,000 run, finishing in 18:01.19.

The UW-La Crosse men won their 18th straight WIAC title, while the Eagle women won their 22nd in 32 years. The Pioneer men were fifth, and the women seventh in the final team standings.

"We had a couple of miscues on some stuff, but things turned out better as we went on," Pioneer Coach Jim Nickasch said. "Overall, I thought we did fine."
