UWP Track and Field
March 3, 2008

UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference co-track athlete of the meet award, while Pioneer Coach Jim Nickasch earned the co-coach of the year following the WIAC indoor championships Friday and Saturday at UW-Superior.

Taddy won both the 800 and mile runs, breaking the conference championship record in the 800 in 2:10.35 and taking the mile in 4:53.01. Both of her times are the fastest in NCAA III this season.

Nickasch is in his seventh year at UW-Platteville. Under Nickasch, the men's team has finished third, fourth, fifth (twice), and sixth at the NCAA Division III national championships, while the much improved women's program has finished as high as fifth nationally along with having nine national champions and a national record-holding distance medley relay team. The men's team was voted the 2006-07 Academic Team of the Year at the NCAA III national outdoor championships.

The Pioneer men were fourth, and the women sixth at the recent WIAC indoor championships. UWP won four events, including Taddy's two titles, and had all-conference performances in nine events:
