Three UW-Platteville student-athletes earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District College Division track and field/cross country honors.
National champions Marcia Taddy and Tony Kilburg earned first team honors, while Jessica Scott earned second team accolades in District 5, which comprises all non-Division I athletes in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois.
Taddy is a 17-time NCAA III all-American and eight-time national champion from Two Rivers, Wis. She carries a 3.62 grade-point average in biology and ornamental horticulture. Kilburg, a member of the national championship distance medley relay at the 2008 NCAA III indoor nationals, has a 3.89 grade-point average in engineering physics and mathematics. The Bellevue, Iowa native just completed his junior year at UWP. Scott, a junior from Kiel, Wis. won the 800-meter run at the indoor nationals and earned all-America honors at the outdoor meet. She has a 3.64 grade-point average in biology/pre-physical therapy.
The district awards are voted upon by sports information directors nationwide. Taddy and Kilburg will now go on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
