Pioneers Head To Nationals

Tyler Sigl – Junior – Distance - Seymour, WI

Tyler, junior from Seymour, WI, is very familiar with national championships. Tyler will be making his eighth appearance at a national championship. Tyler is a three time all-American in cross country. This past year Tyler placed tenth at the National meet in Davenport. Tyler was also the regional and conference champion for cross country the past two years in a row. Tyler also broke his own school record with a time of 24:23 at the Jim Drews cross country meet in La Crosse. Tyler was also named the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional and United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association athlete of the year in cross country. This past indoor season Tyler has also broke two school records in the 3K and the 5K running times of 8:24.00 and 14:31.73 respectively and two WIAC athlete of the week honors. Last outdoor season, Tyler won all-American honors by taking third in the 5K. His freshman year, Tyler finished second in the mile at the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track and Field Championship behind teammate Ryan Kleimenhagen. This weekend Tyler will be competing in the 5K at the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship. Tony Fontanini

Tony Fontanini – Junior – Pole Vault - Onalaska, WI

Tony Fontanini a junior pole vaulter from Onalaska will make his first appearance at the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship this Saturday. This year Tony vaulted 15’ 09.75” earning him third at the conference championship in Whitewater. Tony’s 16’ vault at Oshkosh was the best of the year and earning him a trip to compete this Saturday in Terre Haute.

Marcia Taddy

Marcia Taddy – Senior – Middle Distance - Two Rivers, WI

Marcia, a senior from Two Rivers, will be making her eighth appearance at a national championship. Marcia holds nine school records in the 800M, 1000M , mile and distance medley relay for indoors and DMR, sprint medley relay, 4x800 relay, 800M, and 1500M for outdoors. Marcia has also won nine WIAC athlete of the week awards for track. Marcia has five indoor all-American honors. Last year she was third in the 800, second in the DMR and national champion in the mile. During her sophomore year she was third in the 800 and eighth in the mile. Marcia also holds three outdoor all-American honors. Last year she was sixth in the 1500 and during her sophomore year she took sixth in the 1500 and was national champion in 800. Marcia is also a two time all-American in cross country. This past year Marcia placed 17th at the national meet. Marcia was also named NCAA Division III Midwest Region athlete of the year the past two years in a row for cross country. Marcia was the regional and WIAC conference champion and also earned one WIAC runner of the week award for cross country. Marcia was also awarded with the WIAC Judy Kruckman Women’s Cross Country co-scholar athlete of the year award. Just this past indoor season, Marcia has broken four school records, qualified for nationals in three events, became WIAC conference champion in the mile and 800 and has been named 2007 NCAA III Midwest regional athlete of the year, named Track Performer of the Meet at the WIAC conference meet for the second indoor track season in a row, and has won three WIAC athlete of the week awards. This weekend Marcia will be competing in the 800, mile and running the 1600 in the DMR.

Emma Dreis

Emma Dreis – Sophomore – Middle Distance - Mazomanie, WI/Wisconsin Heights, WI

Emma, a sophomore from Mazomanie will be making first trip to the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship. Emma will be running in the mile and the 1200 meter leg of the distance medley relay this weekend. At the conference championships she ran an automatic qualifying mark in the mile with a time of 4:54.19 breaking the conference record and placing second behind teammate Marcia Taddy. She also placed fourth in 800. Emma also is part of the DMR team that broke the school record this year. The team finished with a time of 11:40.45, breaking the previous record by 14 seconds and becoming the fastest DMR time in WIAC history. The DMR team was also named WIAC athletes of the week. Emma also earned all-Midwest Region honors and second team all-WIAC honors in cross country this past fall. Bobbi Arand

Bobbi Arand - Sophommore - Sprints - Stockton, IL

Bobbi Arand, a sophomore from Stockton, IL, will also be making her first appearance at the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship. She will be running the 400M leg of the distance medley relay this weekend. Bobbi was part also part of the DMR team that broke the school record this year. The team finished with a time of 11:40.45, breaking the previous record by 14 seconds and becoming the fastest DMR time in WIAC history. The DMR team was also named WIAC athletes of the week. Jessica Scott

Jessica Scott – Sophomore – Middle Distance - Kiel, WI

Jessica, a sophomore from Kiel, WI, will be making her second appearance at the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championship. As a freshman, Jessica earned all American honors last year in the distance medley relay as well as competing in the 800 meter run. At the conference championships this year Jessica ran a 2:18.50 earning fifth. Jessica was part also part of the DMR team that broke the school record this year. The team finished with a time of 11:40.45, breaking the previous record by 14 seconds and becoming the fastest DMR time in WIAC history. The DMR team was also named WIAC athletes of the week.
