Pioneers win four events at Augustana

UW-Platteville captured four events at different meets held by Augustana over the weekend in Rock Island, Ill.

The Pioneer women won three races at the Augustana Invitational Friday night, while Kyle Stangel's 1,500-meter win highlighted the men's efforts at the Augustana Meet of Champions Saturday.

Jessica Scott captured the women's 1,500 run, while Emma Dries took the 800 meters and teamed with Lindsey Vick, Maria Lutzke and Qynne Kelly to win the 4x800 relay.

The UWP women were fourth of eight teams while the men were sixth of nine.

UW-Oshkosh won the women's title with 282 points, followed by Augustana with 234, Luther 114, UWP 110, UW-Parkside 61, Mount Mercy 49, St. Ambrose 30 and Illinois Wesleyan 22.

The Titans also won the Meet of Champions with 213 points, folllowed by UW-Whitewater 179, Augustana 152, UW-Stevens Point 143, UW-La Crosse 118, UW-Platteville 84, Carthage 65, Luther 33 and St. Ambrose 13.

Stangel captured the men's 1,500 in 3:56.73, while Scott won the women's in 4:42.56. Dreis' winning time in the 800 was 2:13.77, and the relay team crossed the finish line first in 9:47.43.

Taddy breaks another record

UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy broke her own school mark and recorded the fastest NCAA III time in the country this year in the 800-meter run at the Kansas Relays Saturday.

Taddy ran a sizzling 2:09.38, placing fifth in the NCAA I-dominated event.

She now has NCAA III's fastest times in both the 800 and 1,500-meter run this outdoor season.
