Taddy earns academic honors

UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy earned second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 honors for track and cross country.

The Pioneer national champion carries a 3.62 grade-point average while majoring in physical education. The Two Rivers native previously earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference scholar-athlete award in cross country.

During the 2006-07 year, Taddy earned the NCAA III national athlete of the year in both indoor and outdoor track and swept the regional athlete of the year awards in those two sports as well as cross country. She won four national championships, earned six all-America awards, and won six conference championships. She was the national athlete of the meet at the NCAA III indoor championship after winning two events and anchoring the winning distance medley relay race. Taddy is a six-time national champion and a 15-time NCAA III all-American who has one season of outdoor track eligibility remaining.

The college district 5 encompasses all non-Division I programs from Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Seventy-eight student-athletes were nominated for the track and field/cross country award.
