Taddy earns honors; UWP notes

UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outdoor track performer of the week award.

Taddy, a junior from Two Rivers, placed fifth at the NCAA I Kansas Relays in 800-meter run in a school-record 2:09.18. Taddy's time is the fastest in NCAA III this year and automatically qualified her for the national championships. She already had the nation's top 1,500 time as well. Saturday's time was better than the winning mark in the NCAA III national championship last spring.

Track notes: The Pioneers will compete at UW-Oshkosh Saturday, although some distance runners will be at other venues. Tyler Sigl, Jessica Scott, Kyle Stangel and Emma Dreis will compete in Michigan at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays and Taddy will run in the prestigious Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford University Sunday ... Fox Sports Net Wisconsin is scheduled to show the WIAC Indoor Track and Field championship highlights Monday, APril 30 at 7 p.m.
