UWP runners shine at Iowa State

UW-Platteville's Tyler Sigl broke a school record and automatically qualified for the NCAA III national championships with a standout 5,000-meter run at the Iowa State Classic Friday night.

Competing against mostly NCAA Division I runners from across the Midwest, Sigl placed second out of 61 runners in a time of 14.31.73. He bettered his own school mark by more than seconds and beat the automatic qualifying mark by three seconds. Guor Mojok of Iowa State won the event in 14:25.39.

In Saturday's mile run, Marcia Taddy placed third, Emma Dreis 25th and Jessica Scott 47th in the loaded mile run that featured 82 runners. Taddy took third behind runners from Minnesota and Iowa in a time of 4:45.62. She easily broke her own school record and her time beat the NCAA III automatic qualifying mark by 10 seconds. In fact, her time was good enough to be an NCAA I provisional qualifying mark as well.
