Taddy earns honor; Pioneers set for Drake Relays

UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy earned another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track athlete of the week award after her record-setting day at the Kansas Relays Saturday in Lawrence, Kan.

Competing against either NCAA Division I or elite club runners, the sophomore from Two Rivers was sixth in the 1,500-meter run in a school-record 4:28.75. Hers is the fastest time in the NCAA Division III this season by more than two seconds and automatically qualified her for the national championships.

Taddy, who has won three WIAC weekly honors this year, is one of nine Pioneers who will compete in the prestigious Drake Relays Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines.

Running Thursday are Tyler Sigl and Nick Fulton in the 10,000-meter run. Friday's competitors include Emma Dreis, Mayia Corcoran, Taddy and Lindsey Vick in the distance medley relay. Taddy is back on the track Saturday for the 1,500-meter run, as is the sprint medley relay team of Mary Johnson, Bobbi Arand, Corcoran and Jessica Scott.
