UW-Platteville won three events at the Northern Iowa UNI-Dome Open Friday night, including two by Jim Uppena.
The senior broke his own school record and upped his NCAA III automatic qualifing mark to 63-2.25 in the weight throw. It was the second-longest toss in the nation this year, bettered only by the all-time national record of 69-0.5 by UW-La Crosse's Kevin Becker. Uppena also won the shot put in 48-9.5. Matt Ammerman was fifth in the weight throw at 50-10 and sixth in the shot put at 44-11.75.
Cameron Klein captured the mile 4:21.54, finishing three seconds ahead of the runner-up in a field of 40.
The 4x400 relay team had the Pioneers' best female finish, placing third among 21 teams and provisionally qualifying for nationals with a school-record time of 4:00.94. The Pioneer quartet consisted of Mary Johnson, Alison Ross, Heidi Heberlein and Bobbi Arand.
Carrie Morschauser took fourth in the pole vault at 5-3, while Corcoran was fourth in the 400 meters at 1:01.01. Tim Jankowski was fourth in the pole vault in 15-7, and Jessica Davis fifth in the 3,000 in 10:51.93.
