UW-Platteville captured 16 first-place finishes at the UWP Open Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.
The Pioneer women won nine events, and the men seven in the meet, which included Ashford, Beloit, Clarke, Concordia (Wis.) Mount Mercy, Wisconsin Lutheran and several club teams.
Winning for the women were Lindsey Vick, 800 meters, 2:22.44; Emma Dreis, 1,000, 3:10.01; Alison Ross, 55 hurdles, 9.30; Carrie Morschauser, high jump 5-4.25; Taylor Johnson, long jump, 16-3; Beth Ambrosious, pole vault, 11-2.25; Ashley Pompa, shot put, 36-9.5; and both the 4x200 (1:48.33) and 4x400 (4:06.75) relay teams.
Both Jim Uppena and Cam Klein, who won events Friday at the UNI-Dome Open at Northern Iowa, won Saturday. Uppena captured the weight throw in 62-4.5, and Klein won the 800 in 1:59.42.
Also victorious on the men's side were Phil Johnson, 200, 23.30; Aaron Whalen, 3000, 9:04.78; Ben Zizis, 55 hurdles, 7.80; Scott Howard, pole vault, 14-10; and Corey Digman, shot put, 48-8.25.
