Two UW-Platteville field athletes earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards for their record-setting performances Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
Jim Uppena (Sr., Cassville) and Beth Ambrosious (Sr., DePere) earned this week's track and field honors.
Uppena threw the 35-pound weight 61-7 to win that event. He qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships by a full foot and broke one of the Pioneers' oldest school records, surpassing Bryan Cunninham's 1996 record of 60-1 3/4. He also finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 49-5 3/4.

Ambrosious broke her own school pole vault record with a vault of 11-3. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III nationals in the event.
The Pioneers will compete at UW-Oshkosh Saturday.
