Three of UW-Platteville's first 13 at-bats resulted in home runs, keying the Pioneers 8-3 win at UW-River Falls Monday. The Falcons won the nightcap 8-0.

The Pioneers, who broke their season record for home runs Sunday, raised their total to 44 with the trio of longballs in the opener. Lindsay Weigand hit a two-run home run in the second inning, and new career leader Tera Burr hit a solo shot in the same frame. Burr tied the season record with her 12th and raised her career mark to 21. Becky Swanson hit a two-run shot with no outs in the third for a 5-0 Pioneer lead.

Maggie Medlicott cruised to the win by scattering eight hits. Burr had three hits, while Swanson, Weigand and Bridgette Clark each had two.

UWP was held to four hits in the nightcap by pitchers Ashley Bertrand and Brittany Rathbun. Emily Howlett hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to end the contest by the eight-run rule.

The Pioneers are now 13-19 overall and 7-8 in the WIAC, and the Falcons are 25-11, 8-8.
