UW-Platteville hit six home runs in the final two innings, as the Pioneers came from behind to defeat Scranton (Pa.) 13-3 Thursday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Shawnee State then ended the Pioneers' spring trip by holding them to one hit in a 5-0 game. The Pioneers finished 5-4 at the Snowbird Games.

Tera Burr and Patty Meoska each hit two home runs in the opener. Burr came off the bench and tied the contest at 3-3 with a three-run shot in the sixth, and Meoska led off the seventh with a solo shot for a 4-3 lead. Nikki Hansen and Stefany Delifer joined Meoska and Burr with home runs in the 10-run seventh.

Meoska, a senior from Bagley (River Ridge High School), became just the fourth player in NCAA III history to hit two home runs in an inning and the first since 2001. The NCAA does not track team home runs in an inning, but UWP's six HRs in a game were the sixth most in history. Geneseo State had nine in 1999, and four teams have hit seven.

Maggie Medlicott threw the complete-game victory, improving to 2-2.

In the nightcap, Shawnee State's Lori Harmon cooled down the Pioneer bats, allowing just a first-inning single to Katie Sutter and then retiring the final 19 batters. Shawnee had 10 hits, including a two-run home run by Lauren Ellis.

The 5-4 Pioneers are scheduled to play at Coe Tuesday, then play at home vs. Cornell Thursday at 3 p.m. and Beloit on Saturday at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
