Freshman Katie Sutter continued her home run streak, leading UW-Platteville to a pair of wins at the Snowbird Softball Games Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Sutter hit a three-run homer run in the Pioneers' 10-7 win over Baruch College and a solo HR in the 9-1 win over Mitchell, Conn. The Barneveld product has now homered in each of her first four collegiate contests.

Sutter's three-run blast helped the Pioneers rally from a 4-1 deficit with a six-run sixth inning. Tera Burr hit three doubles, including a two-run knock in the sixth. Baruch tied the score in the bottom of the sixth with three runs, but the Pioneers took the lead for good in the seventh. Bridgette Clark doubled and scored on Sutter's single, giving the Pioneers an 8-7 advantage. Lindsay Weigand then followed with a two-run home run, making the count 10-7. Maggie Medlicott earned the pitching win, striking out eight in seven innings.

Sutter and Brittani Clauss combined on a two-hitter over Mitchell. Sutter, whose home run gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead i the second, threw the first three innings, yielding one hit and one run. Clauss pitched two innings of one-hit ball for the save. Becky Swanson added her first home run of the spring, part of the Pioneers' 11-hit attack. Sutter, Swanson, and Dru Schneider each had two hits in the contest.

UWP, now 3-2, faces Mount Aloysius (Pa.) and Bridgewater (Va.) Wednesday. Through five games, the Pioneers are hitting .367 with 14 doubles and seven home runs already.
