Tera Burr and Katie Sutter hit home runs, powering UW-Platteville past Beloit College 10-2 Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
The host Buccaneers came back to win a wild second game, 14-12.
The twinbill was originally scheduled for Platteville but moved because of the wet Pioneer field. A lacrosse tournament was being held in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium, scrapping the idea of playing on the turf.
Burr went 3-4 with four RBIs in the opener, three of them courtesy of her home run in the fifth. Sutter's ball left the field in the third. Lindsay Weigand joined Sutter with a pair of hits in the opener.
Maggie Medlicott held the Buccaneers to three hits over five innings, limiting them to just a pair of first-inning runs. She improved to 3-3 on the year.
The Bucs won a slugfest in the second game, out-hitting the Pioneers 17-8 and coming away with the 14-12 win.
The Beloit victory spoiled a huge game from Dru Schneider, who had three hits, including a double, and five runs batted in. Samantha Neimann drove home three runs, whole Calan Nelson scored three times. Emily Morris had four hits for Beloit (2-12), while Mallory Sandridge and Lesli Dunn hit home runs.
The Pioneers open WIAC play Tuesday at UW-La Crosse then make their home debut Thursday at 3 p.m. vs. UW-Oshkosh.
