UW-Platteville came up a run short twice Sunday, falling to host Augustana 2-1 and 9-8 in Rock Island, Ill.

The Vikings overcame a 1-0 Pioneer lead in the opener, scoring single runs in the fourth and sixth. Chrissy Rosin singled and scored on Natalie Glunz's double with the game-winner in the sixth. UWP's lone run came in the third, when Tera Burr doubled and Bridgette Clark singled her home.

Clark had two of the Pioneer four hits. Maggie Medlicott took the loss despite yielding just six hits.

Augustana won game two in the bottom of the seventh, spoiling a great Pioneer rally. Melissa Nelson's one-out single was the game-winner for the Vikings, who improved to 18-8.

UWP overcame a 7-0 deficit, scoring four in the fourth and four more in the fifth. Katie Sutter hit a two-run single, and Burr smashed a two-run home run in the fourth. Clark and Stefany Delifer had RBI singles in the fifth.

The Pioneers, now 8-10 overall, play at home three times in six days. UWP plays host to Dubuque Tuesday at 3 p.m., UW-Superior Saturday at noon and UW-Eau Claire Sunday at noon. The Pioneers also play at UW-Stevens Point Thursday.
