UW-Platteville finished its spring trip to Orange, Calif. with a 3-7 record after losing its final two games Friday. The Pioneers lost 10-5 to La Sierra and 11-4 to host Chapman College.
UWP had 10 hits against La Sierra, including three by Patty Meoska, but stranded eight runners. Seven errors were part of the Pioneers' undoing in the nightcap. Nikki Hansen had three hits, including her second home run of the trip.
The Pioneers hit .295 as a team over the 10 games, belting out 11 home runs. Tera Burr (.474), Hansen (.467), Maggie Digman (.440), Kiersten Henn (.412) and Lindsay Weigand (.406) all hit above .400 to open the year.
Coach Heather Townsend's team plays at Cornell Wednesday and at Beloit next Saturday (March 24). After playing at Wartburg March 27, the Pioneers open their home season vs. Loras on Thursday, March 29 at 3 p.m.
