Digman powers UWP to win

Maggie Digman homered for the fourth consecutive game, powering UW-Platteville past Occidental (Calif.) 9-6 Wednesday in the Sun West Games in Orange, Calif.

Wesleyan (Mass.) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Pioneers 8-7 in UWP's second game of the night.

Digman and Becky Swanson both hit home runs in the win, while Lindsay Weigand drove in three runs with a pair of doubles. Tera Burr and Swanson each had three hits to pace the Pioneer 16-hit attack. Digman's four home runs surpass the three total she hit in her first three seasons.

In the nightcap, Wesleyan hit a one-out triple to tie the score and a two-out single to win it in the bottom of the seventh. Nikki Hansen tied a school mark with four hits, while Digman, Weigand, and Dru Schneider each had two.

The 3-3 Pioneers play Puget Sound (Wash.) and Concordia (Calif.) Thursday evening.
