Burr, Digman earn WIAC honors

UW-Platteville record-breakers Tera Burr and Maggie Digman earned all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball honors.

Burr, a sophomore second baseman from Shawano, earned first team honors, while Digman, a senior centerfielder from Dickeyville (Cuba City High School) earned honorable mention accolades.

By hitting .495 and scoring 40 times, Burr set new Pioneer records. She bested the previous marks by of .432, set by Becky Alhbrecht in 2000 and 37 runs by Lea Gerend in 1994. Burr, who was also a first team selection as a freshman, led the WIAC in hitting, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. She finished the year with four doubles, four triples and nine home runs. Her .495 batting average was the second-best season in WIAC history.

Digman became the Pioneers' single-season home run leader by belting 12 in 2007. She surpassed the old mark of eight set by Kim Gleason (2000) and Wendi Siedschlag (2004). Digman, who had three career home runs coming into the season, also led the WIAC in RBIs with 41. She hit .310 on the season and helped the Pioneers establish a new team record with 40 home runs.
