Becky Swanson belted a rare walk-off HR

While Becky Swanson's eighth-inning home run to beat Loras 11-9 Thursday certainly was exciting, it also was quite a rarity in UW-Platteville history.

A quick check into the record books turned into digging back through the history of the program. After paging through the accurate--and readily available--records dating back to 1990, it appears no other Pioneer has ever hit a walk-off home run to win a game. The only other recorded home run to end a game was when Lynn Nagy hit one to stop a 1992 game with Beloit due to the 10-run rule.

So Becky Swanson not only won a game, she made Pioneer history.
