UW-Platteville's Ashley Strnad earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball position player of the week award for her performances April 10-16.
Strnad, a senior catcher from Prairie du Chien, hit .429 (6-for-14) and led UW-Platteville to a 3-1 league record during the week. In a 10-9 victory over UW-Whitewater on April 14, she went three-for-five with three runs scored and two RBIs, including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. Strnad also had a pair of sacrifice flies in a 4-3 opening-game win over the Warhawks. On the week, she counted four runs scored, four RBIs and two doubles.
On Thursday, Strnad and four other seniors will play their final home games at the UWP Softball Complex. Abby Lalko, Katie Larson, Kris Purkapile and Terri Sorg will join Strnad in being introduced before the Pioneers battle UW-Oshkosh at 3 p.m.
