UW-Whitewater pulled away in the second half for a 5-1 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting UW-Platteville Wednesday.
Sarah Gengler scored in the second half for the Pioneers, bringing UWP within 2-1, but the Warhawks scored the last three goals of the game. Emily Gerber and Sara Brown each scored twice for the Warhawks, who improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC.
The Pioneers, now 4-6-2, 1-3-2, make a northern trip this weekend, playing at UW-Superior Saturday and Finlandia Sunday.
UWW donated a portion of the gate to the American Heart Association in honor of Pioneer Coach Enzo Fuschino, who suffered a heart attack Aug. 1.
