UW-Platteville gave league-leading UW-Stevens Point all it could handle, until the Pointers' Kaylee Weise scored the lone goal in the game with 7:09 to play Saturday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
After the Pioneers had stopped Emily Walsh's attempt, Weisse coralled the loose ball and drilled it from right to left, scoring from 15 yards out.
UW-Stevens Point improved to 7-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers fell to 2-4-3, 1-2.
The Pioneers ran stride for stride with the Pointers, especially in the first half. Jackie Baumgart nearly gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead, but couldn't quite catch up to a ball in front of an open UWSP net.
Laurie Trifone stopped nine shots in goal for the Pioneers, who play host to UW-La Crosse Wednesday at 7 p.m.
