Caitlin Freeman scored in the first minutes, and Kim Schneckloth scored in the final minutes, leading UW-Platteville to a 2-0 victory at UW-Superior Saturday.
The Pioneers earned their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the young season, evening their league mark at 1-1 and their overall record at 2-2-3. UW-Superior dropped to 3-2-1, 0-1.
Freeman scored three minutes into the contest on a crossing pass from Paula Duerst. Schneckloth's score was assisted by goalkpeeker Laurie Trifone and came in the 86th minute. The latter goal marked the first-ever assist by the senior goalie.
UWP out-shot the Yellowjackets 15-13, with Trifone coming up with seven saves.
The Pioneers will play host to Coe Tuesday at 6 p.m. on Youth Soccer Night. All kids wearing their jerseys will be admitted free to both the women's and men's games. The men will kick off 30 minutes following the women's contest.
