UW-Platteville scored twice and left Decorah, Iowa with a hard-fought 2-2 double overtime tie with Luther College Wednesday night.
The Pioneers, who had been shut out in their last four games (going 0-3-1), broke out with goals by Sarah Gengler and Mallory Bender.
Gengler gave UWP a 1-0 lead 21 minutes into the contest, and after the Norse tied the score, Bender scored on an assist by Paula Duerst at the 38:15 mark.
The Norse tied the score 18 seconds into the second half, but neither team could get a ball past the goalkeepers in the final 66 minutes. Laurie Trifone stopped eight shots for the Pioneers, while Luther's Hannah Wright made six saves.
The Pioneers are now 3-11-5 on the year, while Luther is 7-10-1.
UWP closes the regular season Friday at UW-Oshkosh, then opens WIAC tournament play Tuesday at a site to be determined by the final standings.
