The young UW-Platteville women's soccer team grew up in a hurry Wednesday, tying 16th-ranked Augustana 0-0 in double overtime in Rock Island, Ill.
The Pioneers are now 1-1-2 overall, while the nationally ranked Vikings are 3-1-1.
Laurie Trifone saved seven shots for the Pioneers, who had two shots on goal. Paula Duerst was stopped in regulation, and Sarah Miller's attempt was stuffed in the second overtime period.
UWP opens its home season Thursday at 6 p.m. against the University of Dubuque. One ticket is good for both the women's and men's games against the Spartans.
