
The UW-Platteville women's soccer team made a successful home season debut, beating Clarke College 1-0 on Kim Schneckloth's overtime goal Thursday night.
The Pioneers dominated the match, outshooting the Crusaders 28-1, but did not find the net until Schneckloth scored with three seconds remaining in the first overtime. She took a long pass from Jen Hansen and raced down the field, beating Clarke's Jamie Brant with a high shot.
UW-Platteville improved to 4-1, while the Crusaders fell to 2-4.
The Pioneers peppered the Crusaders net with shots, with 14 in the first half, 11 in the second and three in the extra session. Clarke got off one second-half shot, saved by Laurie Trifone.
UWP opens conference play Saturday in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium, facing UW-Superior at 4 p.m.
