Pioneers post third straight shutout

Allie Metcalfe scored three goals, and Kim Schneckloth had two goals and an assist, leading the UW-Platteville women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. Sunday.

With their third straight shutout, the Pioneers improved to 3-1 on the young season. Goalkeepers Laurie Trifone and Hannah Krier combined for the whitewash, although the Pioneer defense limited the Eagles to three total shots.

The Pioneers attempted 26 shots, putting 12 of them on goal. Metcalfe scored the only first-half goals, in the 20th and 36th minute. Schneckloth connected for her two goals early in the second half, and after Jolene Eck scored, Metcalfe finished off the day with her third goal.
