Really Retro! Pioneers have no game

The UW-Platteville women's soccer team set Saturday as 1970s Retro Night, and the team and coaches wore tie-dye shirts in the warmups, the music was from three decades ago, and many of the fans came in vintage clothing.

Alverno College did its part, too, taking the Pioneers back to the 1970s, when women's soccer did not have varsity contests.

The Milwaukee school brought just eight healthy players, and when two were injured, the Inferno were forced to forfeit 31:42 into the game.

Shannon Jacoby and Paula Duerst each scored goals, which will not count in the records. NCAA rules stipulate a game must go at least 70 minutes to be an official contest. Instead, the match is just a forfeit. Both injured Alverno players took themselves out of the game after Duerst's goal at 31:42.

The Pioneers improved to 5-2-3 with the win.
