Dear UW-Platteville Prospective Soccer Player,
First of all thank you for your interest in the University of Wisconsin – Platteville Athletics. It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the Pioneer Athletics. I look forward to meeting you and working with you towards a bright future, filled with many challenges and triumphs.
This is an exciting time and I hope you can fully appreciate the privilege of being a Division III student-athlete. This honor is only afforded to those individuals who have set high standards and excelled academically, athletically, and to various levels, socially.
A new opportunity for achievement is now before you. New challenges, dreams, and opportunity lie at your feet. Your future rests in the palm of your own hand and will be forged through the decisions you make in your life here at UWP. Take advantage of every academic, social and cultural opportunity offered. Extend yourself and learn from all higher education has to offer.
At UWP we work diligently to provide our student/athletes with the best competitive advantages to succeed athletically as well as academically, and our university provides a challenging curriculum to help students prepare for life after college.
The mission of our soccer program is to support all academic endeavor and to compete for the Division III national championship. We want to establish a winning tradition here at UWP and we want to do it with the “Pioneer Mentality”. Key ingredients of this new mentality are: HARD WORK – DEDICATION – PASSION – SACRIFICE (both on the field and in the classroom).
I also want to impress upon your mind the importance of personal responsibility and integrity. Being a Division III student athlete will place you in the public spotlight where you represent yourself, your team, the University, community and alumni. You will be an ambassador for many individuals and groups who have worked hard to provide the opportunity you will soon enjoy. Think and act accordingly and never let your actions jeopardize the integrity of those you represent.
To meet the measures of the playing opportunities within the University Soccer program you will need to: - Come to our first day of training camp in top physical form.
- Balance the demands of playing soccer with academics and social life.
- Have an open mind, positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to reach your (our) goals.
- Lead a healthy lifestyle.
- Put the team before I
I am very excited about the future of the UW- Platteville soccer program, and I am glad that you want to be a part of it! I am looking forward to meet all of you on August 19th .
Sincerely,
Enzo Fuschino
