The UW-Platteville men's soccer team is ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III North Region, with a huge game looming against the top-ranked team.
The 2-0 Pioneers, who beat Northland International 6-0 and Bethany Lutheran 6-1 last weekend, play at 2-0 Loras Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Dubuque. The Duhawks beat St. Ambrose 2-0 and UW-Whitewater 3-2 to not only earn the region's top ranking but the number four ranking nationally.
UWP and Loras battled to a 0-0 tie last game in a game shortened by lightning in the area. Prior to that, the Duhawks had won the previous four meetings and six of the last seven. The squads also tied in 2002. The last Pioneer win came in 1999, capping a streak of five straight UWP victories in the rivarly.
