UW-Platteville lost 3-0 at Wheaton Wednesday in the Pioneers' fifth match this season--and second in four days--against a regionally ranked team.

The Thunder is ranked seventh in the NCAA III Great Lakes Region and improved to 8-2-1 overall. The Pioneers, who tied West Region #3 Carleton Sunday, are now 7-4-1.

Wheaton scored just 1:28 into the game, on Mack Rogers' header into the net. The Pioneers held until early in the second half, when Matt Swartz and Joel DeLass scored within 1:07 of each other.

The Thunder had seven shots on goal to the Pioneers' five. Kris Bosshart made three saves for UWP, while Wheaton's Micah Lamb turned back five Pioneer attempts.

The Pioneers play at Clarke Sunday as part of a doubleheader. The women play at 1 p.m. with the men to follow..
