Playing at home for the first time since Sept. 25, UW-Platteville ripped Viterbo 5-0 Friday to remain perfect in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers improved to 9-5-1, including 4-0 in their own stadium, while Viterbo fell to 4-12.
Coach Enzo Fuschino's displayed crisp passing and precision teamwork, helping the Pioneers pepper the V-Hawks with 26 shots, including 12 on goal. Keith Gronke scored a pair of second-half goals, while Tyler Holle and Eric Christensen scored in the first half, and Brian Gottschlich scored in the second. Ben Terpening had two assists, and Gottschlich, Andrew Hanson and Blake Beetham each had one.
UWP also managed to maintain its composure against a V-Hawk club whistled for 26 fouls and three yellow cards. The Pioneers had just eight fouls.
Kris Bosshart stopped four shots, including back-to-back spectactular saves off Scott Coates' attempts from in front of the net, and recorded his fifth shutout of the season.
The Pioneers play at Luther Wednesday and at Wartburg Thursday before returning to the stadium to face Finlandia on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
