UW-Platteville pushed 18th-ranked UW-Whitewater to the limit, but the host Warhawks prevailed 2-1 in overtime Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers' Blake Beetham broke a long scoreless tie with a goal at the 73:47 mark. Tyler Holle earned the assist as Beetham scored for the second straight game.
The Warhawks tied the score with 1:20 remaining, when Kyle Bast scored an unassisted goal. Dan Montanye gave the Warhawks the win with a score 7:06 into overtime.
UWW improved to 13-1-1 overall, while the Pioneers fell to 8-5-1. UWP plays host to Viterbo Friday at 7 p.m.
