Senior Day is always special, but UW-Platteville gave Andrew Pustina, Tommy Pruszka, Devin Wallace and Jason Vockrodt an afternoon they'll never forget.
All four seniors scored goals as the Pioneers registered a school-record 17-0 victory over Finlandia Sunday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Fourteen different players scored, with five netting their first goals of the year, as the Pioneers rolled over the visitors from Michigan. UWP led 12-0 at the half, then took rare runs at the goal in the second period but still scored four more and received another when a Lions' player headed the ball into his own net off a Pioneer corner kick.
The reserves came up big for the Pioneers, as Mitch Cornelus had three goals and two assists, Abdulla Yousfan had a goal and an assist, and Mike McManus had three assists. Starters Ben Terpening and Tyler Holle each had a pair of assists.
The Pioneers improved to 11-6-1, while the Lions fell to 1-12, suffering their 12th shutout of the year.
UW-Platteville will try and clinch its first-ever unbeaten home season Wednesday, as the Pioneers close the season with Beloit College. Kickoff at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium is at 7 p.m.
