The UW-Platteville men's soccer team showed no signs of a letdown after Saturday's big win over UW-Oshkosh, as the Pioneers defeated Edgewood 4-1 Wednesday in Madison.
The Pioneers, coming off their first win over the Titans since 1987, won their third straight match and improved to 5-2 overall. The Eagles fell to 3-3.
Brian Gottschlich scored twice, and Ben Terpening and Mitch Cornelius added goals for UWP, who scored the first four goals of the contest.
The Pioneers had nine shots on goal to the Eagles' two. Edgewood's lone goal came on a penalty kick by Mike Bourgeous with seven minutes remaining.
UWP plays at UW-Superior Saturday, then returns home to face Coe Tuesday at 6 p.m. on Youth Soccer Night. All kids get in free with their team jerseys.
