UW-Platteville suffered its first men's soccer loss of the year, falling 4-1 to a tough Dominican University squad Saturday in River Forest, Ill.
Matt Kochanowski scored two first-half goals for Dominican, who was 20-2-2 a year ago.
The Pioneers' goal came 2:57 into the second half on an own goal. UWP trailed 3-1 at that point, but Plamen Pamukov answered with a score five minutes later to help put the game away.
Coach Enzo Fuschino's club out-shot the home team, 9-8, but Dominican had all eight of its shots on goal. Kris Bosshart made four saves for the Pioneers, now 1-1.
UW-Platteville left the Chicago-area after the match to travel to Millikin University, whom they face Sunday afternoon.
