Eric Christensen battles the Bucs

The UW-Platteville men's soccer team went undefeated at home for the first time in the program's 43-year history, capped by Wednesday's 4-1 victory over Beloit College in the season finale.

The Pioneers finished 6-0 at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium, beating the previous best home percentage of 83.3 percent (7-1-1) in both 1982 and 1983.

Ben Terpening got the Pioneers rolling early, taking an pass from Eric Christensen and blasting a shot from the right side into the upper left corner of the net just 1:23 into the game.

Tyler Holle scored twice on assists off long B.J. Gottschlich throw-ins. The pair teamed up with perfect accuracy at the 19:26 and 30:18 marks of the first half. Mitch Cornelius added a goal with 20 minutes remaining in the game, scoring right in front of the net.

Silas Connelly averted the shutout, scoring with 8:59 left in the contest on a run up the right side for the Buccaneers, who take a 7-8-2 record into this weekend's Midwest Conference playoffs at St. Norbert.

Coach Enzo Fuschino led the Pioneers to a 12-6-1 overall record in his first year and loses just four seniors: Tommy Pruszka, Andrew Pustina, Jason Vockrodt and Devin Wallace.
