UW-Platteville's Alex Albright and Ben Terpening continued their season-long clutch play, leading the 23rd-ranked Pioneers to a 3-2 victory over Viterbo University Wednesday night in La Crosse.
Albright scored the first two goals, giving the Pioneers a 2-0 lead. After the V-Hawks tied the score with two second-half goals, Albright assisted Terpening on the game-winner with 20 minutes to play. Both players are tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals. Eric Sautbine assisted on Albright's second goal.
The late-game goal kept the Pioneers undefeated at 6-0 on the year. UWP is 23th in the D3kicks.com poll and 10th in the region by the soccer coaches association. Viterbo slipped to 1-4 on the year. The Pioneers put their undefeated streak on the line with a pair of road games this weekend, playing at Wisconsin Lutheran Friday at 7 p.m. and at Ripon Saturday at 5 p.m.
