UW-Platteville beat visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College 3-1 Wednesday, improving to 7-1-2, the third-best start in the program's 41-year history.
The Pioneers utilized their team speed to run up and down the ProGrass field and take 27 shots, including 14 on goal. Three of those found the back of the net, with Laity Loum knocking in a rebound shot of Ben Terpening (the celebration is pictured here) and Devin Maier scoring on a 26-yard direct kick in the first half. Alex Albright took a sharp pass from Loum and drilled home the final goal with 7:33 remaining in the game.
UWP's Scott Brabender made five saves, only allowing a Ryan Powalitz goal in front of the net that tied the score at 1-1. Maier's goal after a Warrior foul broke the tie just 4:40 later.
The Pioneers now hit the road for five straight games, beginning with Tuesday's contest at Wartburg.
