UW-Platteville scored early and often Saturday, rolling to a 9-1 men's soccer victory over Waldorf (Iowa) in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Alex Albright, on a nice feed from Laity Loum, scored just 5:59 into the game, and the Pioneers added four more first-half goals, two each by Eric Christensen and Ben Terpening.
The 5-0 halftime lead gave Coach Chris Bianchi a chance to empty his bench, and he rested the starters for the entire second period. The Pioneer depth shown through in the final 45 minutes, as UWP scored four more times. Andrew Pustina had two goals, while Devin Maier and Jason Vockrodt each had a goal.
The Pioneers out-shot the Warriors 44-3, including a 25-2 advantage in shots in goal.
The 4-0-1 Pioneers will not play at Rockford Tuesday, as originally scheduled. Rockford discontinued its season, and Aurora took its place. The Spartans will be coming to Platteville Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
