Ranked Warhawks tip Pioneers in OT

Undefeated UW-Whitewater remained that way Tuesday, but just barely, as the Warhawks edged visiting UW-Platteville 3-2 in overtime Tuesday.

Bob Moelter scored 4:15 into the overtime, lifting the Warhawks to the win. UWW, ranked fifth in the NCAA III Central Region, improved to 9-0-1.

The game Pioneers, playing their fifth overtime contest of the season, fell to 8-3-3.

Alex Albright scored both goals for the Pioneers, including a first-half blast against the wind that gave the Pioneers a 1-0 advantage. The Warhawks scored twice in the 80th minute, but Albright answered with his second goal with two minutes remaining to force the extra play.

Ben Terpening was credited with an assist on Albright's first goal. Albright netted his ninth and 10th goals of the year, while Terpening scored his fifth assist. Both freshmen lead the Pioneers in those categories.

UW-Platteville next plays at Lakeland Sunday.
