Pioneers to host jamborees

UW-Platteville will play host to the Impact Sports/Nike Six Rivers Conference football jamboree on Sat., Aug. 25 at the 10,000-seat Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

"This is a great opportunity for our local communities and students to enjoy one of the premier facilities in the nation," Pioneer Football Coach Mike Emendorfer said. "With many of our student-athletes from southwest Wisconsin, we hope many more will consider continuing their careers in Pioneer Stadium."

This is the second straight year the Six Rivers Conference will play a jamboree on UW-Platteville's Pro-Grass in-fill system surface that was installed in 2005.

"We are very excited to have the Six Rivers Conference here again," UWP Athletic Director Mark Molesworth said. "Last year's inaugural jamboree was very successful, and we're glad to be part of it again."

This season's games are as follows:

10:00 Potosi vs. River Ridge

12:30 Highland vs. Belmont

3:00 Black Hawk vs. Seneca

5:30 Cassville vs. Benton/Scales Mound

8:00 Pec-Argyle vs. Shullsburg

One ticket is good for all five games and may be purchased at the participating schools or at the Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium ticket booth the day of the game.

UW-Platteville will also be the site of basketball jamborees this season. The SWAL conference boys will play four games on Jan. 18-19 and the girls on Feb. 8-9 on the Bo Ryan Court in Williams Fieldhouse.

"We look forward to having more and more high school sporting events on our campus," Molesworth said. "We are happy that the Six Rivers and SWAL conferences will be taking advantage of our facilities."
